This practical course is the ideal way to combine theory with practice for an optimal and especially predictable result in case of bone augmentations.
It will detail the basic criteria that should be followed in the process of bone augmentations, as well as certain “tips and tricks” learned by the lector in the over 17 years of practice in implantology.
Bone augmentation is a sensitive subject, knowing that small details make big differences.
The theoretical part focuses on these details to transform bone regeneration into predictable interventions in both simpler cases and cases with marked atrophies. The most important methods of bone augmentation will be detailed, such as:
- horizontal bone augmentation with xenograft and various collagen membranes
- bone splitting
- augmentation with tenting screws
- augmentation with the help of non-absorbable PTFE membranes, reinforced with titanium
- augmentation with titanium mesh, conformed to the stereolithographic model
- vertical augmentation following the explantation of compromised implants
- augmentation with bone blocks
Also, soft tissue manipulation techniques will be detailed so that the closure of the flap is tension-free, regardless of the volume of bone augmentation.
The practical part allows the participants to practice on the mandibles and ribs of pork various augmentation techniques such as:
- BONE SPLITTING
- BONE BLOCK COLLECTION
- HORIZONTAL AUGMENTATION AND FULL FLAP
- HORIZONTAL AUGMENTATION PARTIAL THICKNESS FLAP
- PPF (periosteal pocket flap)
The course is addressed both to doctors with little experience in bone augmentation, but who want to start on a safe and predictable path and to doctors with experience in augmentation, but who want to deepen the classic techniques and learn other very useful techniques and perhaps the most important thing, to learn when and how to apply certain techniques to complete the intervention successfully, regardless of the degree of difficulty.

Dr. Cosmin Dima has graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Carol Davila” Bucuresti (UMF) in 2001. Since then he has continued and developed professionally and became a certified implantologist in 2004.
In 2006 he started using piezosurgery.
From 2014 he holds a master’s degree in periodontology and in 2019 he has finished his PhD in surgery on the theme “Bone regeneration around implants ”. During the years he published many articles about bone regeneration around implants. He also became member in different societies such as: Society of Esthetic Dentistry in Romania (SSER), European Society of Cosmetic Dentistry ( ESCD) , International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), He is co-founder and educational director of the Digital Dentistry Society, Romania.
During the last years Dr Cosmin Dima sustained a lot of conferences in the field of piezosurgery, esthetics around implants and advanced surgery for ESCD, SSER, Steigmann Institute, ImplantoDays, EDAD, ADRE and many other important dental societies all around the world . He is also KOL in piezosurgery for ACTEON and KOL in implantology for MIS, certified in advanced soft tissue grafting and implant surgery by the University of Michigan and certified Xpert at dentalxp.com
In 2020 he recieved the Lifetime achievement award “A World’s Top 100 doctor in dentistry “ acreditated by the Global Summit Institute.
Dr. Dima invented two surgical techniques, “Snake” Technique and PMT( periosteal membrane technique) both of them with excellent results in bone and soft tissue augmentation.
